File preservation policy
Argos Journal recognises the importance of ensuring the long-term preservation, availability, integrity and accessibility of its published academic content. In accordance with the principles of Open Access and scholarly communication, the journal adopts various digital preservation strategies aimed at ensuring the permanent conservation of its documentary heritage.
Digital Preservation Systems
The journal employs digital preservation mechanisms that enable the creation of distributed and secure copies of published content, thereby reducing the risk of information loss resulting from technical failures, cybersecurity incidents or institutional contingencies.
Argos Journal currently participates in digital preservation systems compatible with the Open Journal Systems (OJS) platform, including the LOCKSS Network (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe), whose purpose is to ensure the preservation and recovery of scholarly content through replicated copies distributed across multiple servers.
Institutional Storage and Backup
Editorial files, metadata, galley files and all other materials associated with published articles are stored on the institutional servers of the University of Guadalajara, which maintain backup, monitoring and technical maintenance mechanisms designed to ensure the continuity of editorial services.
In addition, the journal retains backup copies of published content as a complementary measure to facilitate recovery in the event of unforeseen contingencies.
Identification and Interoperability
In order to facilitate the discovery, retrieval and preservation of content within the digital environment, the journal employs international metadata and interoperability standards provided by the OJS platform, enabling the harvesting of information by national and international indexes, directories, repositories and scholarly information systems.
Permanent Access to Content
The journal seeks to maintain permanent, free and open access to all published materials. In the event of technological modifications, platform migrations or digital infrastructure upgrades, the necessary measures shall be implemented to ensure continued access to the journal’s content and the preservation of its bibliographic records.
Preservation of the Scholarly Record
Published articles constitute part of the journal’s permanent scholarly record. Consequently, once published, content may only be subject to corrections, clarifications, errata or retractions in accordance with the journal’s editorial policies and internationally recognised best practices in scholarly publishing, while preserving the integrity of the editorial record at all times.
Institutional Commitment
Through this policy, Argos Journal reaffirms its commitment to the long-term preservation of scientific and humanistic knowledge, promoting the permanence, accessibility and continuous dissemination of the research results published in its pages.
