Abstract

The popular mexican language has found in the albur and calabur a diverse ingenious way to encrypt messages of a sexual and mischievous nature. It is a dialogue in which a sender codes a double meaning message (albur), and the receiver, under the same code, responds quickly and easily (calabur).

This article addresses the presence of language wordplay as a cultural phenomenon, that some may consider obscene, due to the sicalyptic nature of its messages; perhaps others, a form of belonging to a linguistic community that mocks censorship, but for all, a space where ingenuity and mischief impose its law.
