Abstract

What is being a man? What does it mean? What is virile? What is masculine? These are some of the questions (criticized by some as essentialists) that the so-called Men's Studies have made in the last decades of our time. Gender categories have been a more or less recent concern in the different cultural and social scenes; as well as the typification of sexual identity in relation to political contexts has marked the path of Cultural Studies. Therefore, literature has become that scenario where culture converges and where it is nourished to give answers to multiple problems that have been designed by today's worldviews.
