Abstract

This article deals with a social and cultural problem that is reflected in the gothic and fantastic literary works written by Latin American women: violence, abuse, the struggle of femininities to achieve their peace and stability, as well as their need to be visible and heard. Under the analysis of the texts of some writers, such as Mariana Enriquez, Mónica Ojeda or Samanta Schweblin, a critique and an aesthetic of violence is addressed, the veil is removed from domestic situations that were normalized and problems that Although they have existed for centuries, they are considered taboo or simply ignored because they are believed to be isolated events. Starting from the writing of the aforementioned authors, a clear description is made, and the abuse and its derivatives are put into words, a fact that represents a watershed in literature.
