This article elucidates some of the ethical-aesthetic implications of the idea of memory as a voluntary act of searching for the past in the narratives of Rivera Garza and Fernanda Melchor. As part of the conceptual support for this purpose, the idea of Emancipatory Memory provided by Diana González Martín in her book Emancipación, plenitude and memoria is taken up. Modes of perception and action through art (González, 2015) and the confluence of time and narration proposed by Paul Ricoeur.
