Un hogar sólido: the tomb where life reigns rather than death
Keywords:
Death, Loneliness, Homesickness, Hope, FreedomAbstract
The purpose of this work is to analyze and interpret the dramatic work Un hogar sólido by the mexican writer Elena Garro (1916-1998). The playwright, novelist, short story writer, screnewriter, poet and journalist emerges into the ligth in the middle of the twentieth century with an absolutely innovative theater, created with an extraordinary poetic and metaphorical language, and imprinting on it dreamlike aspects and an abrupt irruption of conventional time and space. In this research, the element of space is particulary highlighted as well as the categories of death, loneliness, homesickness and memories. The analysis and interpretation of this piece are theoretically supported by some principles of the book The poetics of sapce by the philosopher Gastón Bachelard, the appendix The dialectic of solitude included in the book The labyrinth of solitude by Octavio Paz and the book The death: A dawn by Elisabeth Kübler-Ross.
