Since the Spanish conquest there has been a constant dichotomy in Peruvian identity, which is reflected in art and especially in literature. It is in it that there is a character who masterfully represents in his works the encounters and disagreements generated by the constant interaction of these two cultural hemispheres present in Peru. It is José María Arguedas, who not only portrays this reality, but through indigenism manages to represent and revalue the figure of the Indian and therefore of the Andean, all within the framework of the constant problem that afflicts the search for what it means to be. Peruvian. Taking as reference three important works of the intellectual production of José María Arguedas: "The deep rivers", "The Sixth" and "The fox from above and the fox from below".
